Stand firm in tough times. You may have just had a bad day, or bad week , or even a bad year, but as long as you are still breathing don’t count yourself out. Instead, stand firm in adversity and you will win in the end.
God has not promised that the road would be easy; but He did promise: “…and, lo I am with you alway, even to the end of the world.”(Matthew 28:20)
It has been said that adversity comes to make us strong. While I am facing adversity, it is hard to buy that; you might feel the same way. However, when I have come through intense, adverse circumstances, just because of the fact that I survived, makes me feel stronger.
Later, when I face less challenging problems, I know that I can survive, this time. When a person has to stand firm in adversity, or else, it stretches them. Problems that once seemed large are now a piece of cake!
In this way you become stronger!
This is why the Apostle Paul wrote great, Holy Spirit inspired letters from dark, dingy, dungeons, loosely called prison cells, because he knew that when all else fails STAND FIRM IN ADVERSITY! He wrote to the Ephesians in chapter 6 and verses 13 & 14,
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”(KJV)
Paul was saying stand in the faith and truth of Jesus Christ that you know. And really start to believe (patiently) in the promises of God from the Bible that you have been professing.
Adversity says: ‘it is time to get serious about your faith or you may not survive.’ In this way it tests you to see if you can wait to see what God will do or buckle under the weight of the troubles that you face.
The old black preachers use say, “Hang-on in there and see what the end is goin to be!”
Therefore, if you can just hang-in-there and trust God, then you to can stand firm in adversity.
