New Person

images (2)You may hear some Christians saying, “Look to the cross; keep looking to the cross!” and you may not understand what that means. Think of it this way: You have become a new person through the cross. In Christ the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that,

‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.'(King James Version{KJV})

Being in Christ is like saying as the Apostle Paul said in Galatians chapter 2 and verse 20,

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”(KJV)

In other words I have put on Christ and the old person that I use to be, before I gave my heart to Jesus, is gone. The old sinner with the old bondages, the old addictions and the old ways is gone. I no longer have to wear the label of sin that the world has placed on me.

I no longer wear the old labels because deliverance for my particular bondage to sin is found in the cross of Christ, I just have to start to, first, accept it as fact, and second, believe it as the truth of God. At the cross, our sins were erased. No, I did not say ‘My sins, or a special group people’s sins,” were erased, I said “Our Sins”, that is to say, the sins of the whole human race were cancelled at calvary’s cross. That means that there is no reason for anybody to have to go to Hell, but many people still do regardless.

Why Are Many People Still Lost When Jesus Paid For Their Sins?

Many are still lost because they have not accepted the free gift of having their sins cancelled by faith, and the confession of that faith in Jesus Christ and what He made possible at the cross. Unfortunately, it is that simple.  You must reach out and grab your salvation and grab your deliverance from addiction by believing and receiving, not only that it is for you, but that it has become you. You are saved and you are delivered because you have become a new person in the cross of Christ.

Therefore, when the sin that so easily besets you tries to entrap you again, you have to remind yourself and remind that sin that you are no longer the sinner that you use to be:

  • You are no longer a liar,
  • you are no longer an adulterer,
  • you are no longer a thief,
  • you are no longer a alcoholic,
  • you are no longer a drug addict,
  • you are no longer a sex addict,
  •  you are no longer filled with lust,
  • you are no longer filled with envy and jealousy,
  • you are no longer a gossip,
  • and, you are no longer a follower of the stars but a follower of the Word that can save and deliver.

If you have believed that Jesus paid for your sins you are a new person in Christ and you are a new person in the cross.

How About When We Fall Into Sin?

Now, it it must be said that there may come times of weakness when even as saved Christians, we still fall back into sin, but we don’t stay down because our Savior did not stay down, but was lifted up and He said,

“If I, if I be lifted up from the earth will draw all men unto me.”(John 12:32 {KJV})

We must stand-up in our minds and stand up in our hearts looking, at the cross by faith, and first denounce the sin, then declare that we are a new creature in Christ Jesus because he has changed our identity (and that is the key term). We must now take on a different view of our new identify.

In other words, we must identify ourselves  as having the purity and holiness of Christ Jesus and no longer the defilement of who we use to be. We must view ourselves as: new creatures, new persons, with new ways of thinking.  Then, we can start to get back on track when we focus on what God focuses on our IDENTITY IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD!   A-men
